Tinana War Memorial

Tinana War Memorial
Tinana Memorial ParkMaryborough, QLD 4650

A memorial board to honour residents of Tinana who served in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) during World War I was the result of a fund-raising campaign by a Soldiers’ Memorial Committee, established in 1917.  Unveiled in 1918, the memorial was originally located next to the Shire Hall but was later moved to its current position in Memorial Park. It depicts a broken column, representing a life cut short, which is less common memorial symbolism than the ‘digger’ statues dotted around Australia.
