St Pauls Church of England

St Pauls Church, the third built at its present location, was opened in 1879, with the bell tower added in 1888 and the memorial hall in 1921, replacing earlier construction. The church has an intimate connection with Maryborough’s soldiers, housing a Warriors’ Chapel displaying the 1887 Regimental Colours of the Wide Bay (and Burnett) Regiment. The memorial hall commemorates the sacrifice of Maryborough’s soldiers in World War I. Scrolls containing a list of locals who returned from the first war, as well as those who died, were placed in a cavity beneath the foundation stone of the church.
