Maryborough War Memorial and Gates

Maryborough War Memorial and Gates
Queens Park Maryborough, QLD 4650

The Maryborough War Memorial is one of the most unusual in Australia, surmounted by a winged figure of victory and with statues of men and women representing each of the services – army, navy, air force, and nurses. The memorial, originally erected to commemorate casualties of the Great War, has marked the formal entrance to Queens Park for most of the 20th century. Gates to the memorial and the park beyond were designed by noted Maryborough architect Philip Oliver Edward Hawkes and unveiled in 1922.
