The Krait Memorial commemorates the MV Krait and the Australian commandos that undertook daring wartime raids behind Japanese lines in World War II. The Krait was a Japanese fishing vessel that was used by Z Special Unit commandos in Operation Jaywick in 1943, in which Australian commandoes snuck into Singapore Harbour and blew up seven Japanese ships, as well as intelligence gathering missions. It is now on display at the National Maritime Museum.
