One of the military trail’s most unique commemorations of the war effort is the Memorial Bridge over Bridge Creek, about 20km from the town of Brooweena on the Maryborough-Biggenden Road. Opened in 1921, the memorial bridge is a practical memorial, honouring the nine local members of the Australian Imperial Force who died in service or were killed in action while serving in war. Now heritage-listed, the bridge was built by the owner of the Mt Joseph cattle station, and although no longer in use, it is a beautiful picnic spot to view Mt Joseph homestead.
